How to Change the Spark Plugs on a Pontiac Transport

    • 1). Open the hood of your Pontiac Trans Sport van. Remove the negative battery cable using a wrench.

    • 2). Select a spark plug as a starting point. Change each plug individually to protect the integrity of the firing order. Twist and pull up on the boot connected to the top of the plug to remove it.

    • 3). Connect a spark-plug socket to your ratchet. Remove the spark plug with the socket and ratchet. Install the new plug by hand to prevent cross-threading it. Tighten the plug with your socket and ratchet.

    • 4). Squeeze a small bead of dielectric grease into the boot on the end of the spark-plug wire. Press the boot onto the top of the spark plug. Repeat this on each of the five remaining plugs.

    • 5). Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the battery cable connection with a wrench. Close the hood.
